NOTED: A Candle Rooted in Connection
From the very beginning, I knew I wanted something of our own to live inside every Alderhaus gift. A piece that quietly carried our heart and values—a reminder that connection is not only meaningful, but essential. That desire is what led to NOTED.
When I think about the people I want to work with—artists, makers, and vendors—it has never been just about talent. It’s about story. About intention. About choosing people whose work is rooted in care, curiosity, and genuine connection. People whose stories I want to help amplify. Kenzie is one of those people.
I was introduced to Kenzie by a dear friend—and isn’t that so often how it happens? Good people seem to lead you to more good people. Not long after meeting him, Kenzie brought his talent to an event I hosted for my daughter’s bachelorette celebration. Together, we created custom perfumes for her and her bridesmaids to wear on the wedding day. It was one of those moments that felt both joyful and meaningful—creative, personal, and full of heart. Kenzie was incredible. Personable. Hilarious. Exceptionally talented. But more than that, he has a way of making people feel comfortable, seen, and inspired—qualities I value deeply and seek out in every collaboration at Alderhaus. Creating NOTED with Kenzie felt like a natural extension of that shared energy. The candle was designed to be a quiet presence—something you light when you want to pause, reflect, or feel grounded. Its scent—lavender moss, Japanese onsen, mahogany, and rare musk—is earthy and gently sweet, with a warmth that lingers. It’s meant to feel familiar and comforting, like being understood without needing to explain yourself.

The candle is also inspired by the Alder tree—strong, steady, and deeply rooted. Alder trees enrich the soil around them, preparing the way for others to grow. They don’t exist in isolation. They support what’s around them. To me, that feels like the truest reflection of connection—the quiet caretaking we offer one another every day.
NOTED is not meant to be loud or showy. It’s meant to be felt. Supporting artists and makers like Kenzie—people who create with purpose, humor, and heart—is one of the most meaningful parts of building Alderhaus.
